Questions fréquentes
Ajusteurs BorderlineOur Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height and intermediates about 8 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: a beginner skier 170 cm tall gets about 155 cm, so the 152. We carry 140, 146, 152, 160 and 168 cm.
It's for beginners and early intermediates. Elan calls it a skill-building ski for skiers learning to link turns and gain control; it's light, forgiving and easy to start a turn on.
Groomed runs. It's a 74 mm-wide piste ski for learning and cruising, in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs; Elan's terrain chart sits at the groomed end, not powder.
It's built to be light and forgiving for learning rather than to bite hard ice: a wood core with fibreglass and no metal layer.

What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height and intermediates about 8 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: a beginner skier 170 cm tall gets about 155 cm, so the 152. We carry 140, 146, 152, 160 and 168 cm.
Is this ski right for my level?
It's for beginners and early intermediates. Elan calls it a skill-building ski for skiers learning to link turns and gain control; it's light, forgiving and easy to start a turn on.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
Groomed runs. It's a 74 mm-wide piste ski for learning and cruising, in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs; Elan's terrain chart sits at the groomed end, not powder.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
It's built to be light and forgiving for learning rather than to bite hard ice: a wood core with fibreglass and no metal layer.
Does it come with bindings?
Yes. It comes with Elan's EL 9.0 GW binding (DIN 2.5–9) on Elan's built-in binding rail.
Will my boots fit the bindings? What does GW mean?
The EL 9.0 GW takes standard alpine and GripWalk boot soles. GW means GripWalk: a rockered, rubber-treaded sole that makes walking easier.
What's its turn radius?
The turn radius grows with length: 12.4 m at 152 cm, 13.9 m at 160 cm and 15.4 m at 168 cm.
What do 74, W and EL 9.0 mean?
74 is the waist width in mm (122/74/103). W marks Elan's women's version. EL 9.0 is the binding, with DIN up to 9, and GW means it takes GripWalk boot soles.
Is the W version different from the regular Element 74?
On Elan's spec sheets the Element 74 W has the same 122/74/103 mm shape and turn radius as the Element 74. It's the women's version with its own graphics; we carry it in 140 to 168 cm.
Is it stiff or soft?
Soft and forgiving. Elan describes it as light and forgiving, made for building skills.
Do you mount the bindings? Do I need to bring my boots?
Yes, free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
What warranty does it have?
Elan gives a 2-year warranty on this ski. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
