Prodigy 1

The Prodigy 1 is designed for skiers seeking precise handling in the park and on-piste. Featuring an award-winning elliptical sidecut, these skis offer effortless turn initiation at any speed, while full strength sidewalls deliver exceptional edge hold. The Prodigy 1 is 88mm underfoot, enhancing its precision on hard-packed features. A unique construction of a poplar wood and ash wood core provides the strength needed to withstand heavy hits. For this newest model, we've integrated a carbon/rubber stomp pad to absorb vibrations, making your ride and creative expression smoother and more sure-footed than ever. Paired with XL 2.5mm edges, the Prodigy 1 skis are built for lasting durability.

About the Prodigy series

The Prodigy Series returns this anniversary season with a brand-new design language. "CHASM" by Parade Studios, evokes geological strata, crevasses, and topographic cross-sections. Inspired by the virtual voxel world and the natural world, it's as if each Prodigy ski carries within it an alternative imprint of the terrain beneath you. A brand-new color palette pairs with this new design across this best-selling ski series. We've kept the Prodigy's secret recipe of poplar wood, progessive flex, and underfoot carbon-rubber reinforcement, so it remains a first-pick across a wide range of freeskiers and ability levels.

Questions

Posées en magasin, réponses de nos ajusteurs

What length should I get?

Our Find my length tool starts from your height: intermediates about 8 cm under their height and experts about 2 cm over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 5 more if you mostly ski the park. Example: an intermediate skier 170 cm tall who mostly skis the park gets about 157 cm, so the 158. We carry 158, 164, 171 and 178 cm.

Is this ski right for my level?

Faction rates it for intermediate, advanced and expert skiers who love the park: skiing backwards, butters and working on new tricks.

Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?

Park and pipe first, with precise handling on piste too. It's an 88 mm twin tip that Faction rates 9/10 for park / freestyle and 7/10 for all-mountain / carving. 88 mm is wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.

Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?

It's built for firm park snow and hard hits: camber underfoot gives quick edge grip, XL 2.5 mm edges and full-strength sidewalls stand up to rails, and a carbon and rubber stomp pad underfoot protects the poplar and ash core and absorbs hard landings.

Does it come with bindings?

No, it's sold flat (ski only), so you choose the binding. Pick one whose brake is at least as wide as the 88 mm waist.

Will my boots fit? What does GW mean?

That depends on the binding you add. For GripWalk boots, choose a binding marked GW (GripWalk-compatible); standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding.

Is it stiff or soft?

Faction rates the flex 7 out of 10. Its Mustache Flex is stable underfoot for edge hold and smoother in the tips and tails to soak up bumps.

Can you mount bindings on them? Do I need my boots?

Yes, when you buy bindings with them: mounting is then free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.

Does it have rocker or camber?

Tip and tail rocker with traditional camber underfoot (about 3 mm, per Faction's spec sheet), for quick edge grip on hard park snow and easy pivots and smears.

Is this the current model?

Yes. It's the 26/27 Prodigy 1: new 'CHASM' artwork by Parade Studio on the same construction as before (poplar and ash core, carbon and rubber stomp pad).

Where should the bindings be mounted?

Faction gives a Progressive mount point for it, with a 4.1 x 9 mm drill size.

What warranty does it have?

Faction gives a two-year warranty on this ski. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
