About the Studio series
At Faction, we're celebrating our 20th anniversary, and the Studio Series is leading the tribute. At its center, is the Roman numeral for 20; XX, realized in a textured bitmap glitch overlay. The Studio Series is the flagship descendent of two decades of riding, innovation and design that all started with our freeride-focused prototypes in 2006. In these two decades, we've worked through countless versions, prototypes and molds to reach today's series of premium, world-class skis. This series spans the spectrum from high-level park skiing, to high-energy all-mountain riding, and right to the top: the otherworldly demands of competitive freeride skiing.

Questions
Posées en magasin, réponses de nos ajusteurs
What length should I get?
Use Faction's size chart: your child's height plus how they ski (relaxed = easy cruising, active = confident everywhere, aggressive = fast and powerful). 144 cm: 140–145 cm tall and aggressive, 145–150 active, or over 150 relaxed. 152 cm: 145–150 aggressive, or over 150 active or aggressive. Otherwise the chart points to Faction's 136, which we don't carry.
Is this ski right for my level?
Faction rates it for advanced and expert young skiers: a premium twin tip for young freestyle skiers ready to progress, built with the same process as Faction's adult skis.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
The park and the rest of the mountain. Faction made it for young skiers hitting their first park features, with catch-free turns on the trails, and rates it 8/10 for park / freestyle and all-mountain / carving and 6/10 for powder.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
Faction gives it traditional camber underfoot and 2.2 mm edges, and reinforces it for season after season of progression with full-strength sidewalls and tip and tail caps. Its elliptical sidecut and balanced rocker are made for catch-free turns.
Does it come with bindings?
No, it's sold flat (ski only), so you choose the binding. Pick one whose brake is at least as wide as the 85 mm waist.
Will my boots fit? What does GW mean?
That depends on the binding you add. For GripWalk boots, choose a binding marked GW (GripWalk-compatible); standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding.
What do Grom and FS mean?
Grom is Faction's name for its junior skis, here in the Studio series. FS is the freestyle version, for park-minded kids; Faction's Studio Grom FR is the freeride one.
Is it stiff or soft?
Faction rates the flex 6 out of 10. Its Boat Flex has stiffer tips and tails that settle the ski and absorb landings, with a touch more flex underfoot so it loads up and pops.
Can you mount bindings on them? Do I need the boots?
Yes, when you buy bindings with them: mounting is then free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your child's boots, so bring them or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
Does it have rocker or camber?
Tip and tail rocker with traditional camber underfoot (about 2 mm, per Faction's spec sheet), for edge hold, easy turn starts and float in soft snow, on a directional twin shape for skiing switch.
Where should the bindings be mounted?
Faction gives a Newschool mount point for it, with a 3.6 x 7 mm drill size (smaller than the 4.1 x 9 mm on Faction's adult skis).
What warranty does it have?
Faction gives a two-year warranty on this ski. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
