Ajusteurs BorderlineOur Find my length tool starts from your height: intermediates about 8 cm under their height and advanced skiers about 3 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter.
It's for intermediate to advanced skiers.
All-mountain, leaning off-piste. Fischer puts the Ranger 84 in its freeride / all-mountain range ('more off-piste') and calls it an all-mountain specialist that can carve hard snow and eats up powder. At about 84 mm it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Fischer lists progressive edge grip and excellent on-piste performance for the Ranger 84, which has a titanal (metal) layer and sandwich sidewalls.
À propos
Ranger 84
The Fischer Ranger 84 (article A17325) is an all-mountain ski from Fischer's Ranger freeride family, with an 85 mm waist and a 119 / 85 / 109 mm sidecut, for skiers who split their days between hard groomers and soft snow off the side of the run.
A poplar woodcore in Fischer's Sandwich Sidewall Construction gives the Ranger 84 direct, progressive edge grip on firm snow, and a titanal reinforcement (Ti-reinforced) keeps it calm and stable as speed builds. Fischer's Freeski Rocker raises the tip and tail for easier turn starts and better float when the snow is soft, while Fiber Tech and a sintered base round out the build.
Fischer makes the Ranger 84 in 167, 174 and 181 cm; at 174 cm the turn radius is 15 m and each ski weighs about 1,850 g.
Good for
- Carving firm, groomed runs with a secure, stable edge
- Fresh-snow mornings and soft bumps just off the piste
- Skiers who want one narrow, versatile ski for mixed resort conditions
Is the Fischer Ranger 84 a carving ski or a freeride ski? Both: Fischer positions it as an all-mountain specialist that holds hard snow, with Freeski Rocker for soft snow off-piste.

Questions
Posées en magasin, réponses de nos ajusteurs
What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: intermediates about 8 cm under their height and advanced skiers about 3 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter.
Is this ski right for my level?
It's for intermediate to advanced skiers.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
All-mountain, leaning off-piste. Fischer puts the Ranger 84 in its freeride / all-mountain range ('more off-piste') and calls it an all-mountain specialist that can carve hard snow and eats up powder. At about 84 mm it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
Fischer lists progressive edge grip and excellent on-piste performance for the Ranger 84, which has a titanal (metal) layer and sandwich sidewalls.
Does it come with bindings?
No, it's sold flat (ski only), so you choose the binding. Pick one whose brake is at least as wide as the 84 mm waist.
Will my boots fit? What does GW mean?
That depends on the binding you add. For GripWalk boots, choose a binding marked GW (GripWalk-compatible); standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding.
What does 84 mean?
Ranger is Fischer's freeride / all-mountain line, and 84 is the waist width in mm.
Is it a men's or women's ski?
It's a unisex ski. Fischer makes one Ranger 84, and a women's ski is only a length difference.
Is it stiff or soft?
Medium. Fischer doesn't publish a flex rating; this is from independent reviews and ratings.
Can you mount bindings on them? Do I need my boots?
Yes, when you buy bindings with them: mounting is then free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
What warranty does it have?
It's covered by Borderline Outdoor's 1-year warranty. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
