À propos

Ripstick 102

The Elan Ripstick 102 (2026/27) is a men's freeride and all-mountain ski with a 100–101 mm waist in the 168 and 175 cm lengths, built for advanced skiers who want one light ski for powder days, technical terrain and groomers.

Elan's Amphibio profile pairs camber on the inside edge with rocker on the outside edge of each ski, so the Ripstick 102 grips when carving and releases easily in soft snow. A Tubelite woodcore with CarbonDeck Technology, carbon rods and size-specific UD carbon keeps the flex consistent through every length, and flax fibre in the tip cuts vibration. For 26/27 Elan reshaped the geometry for a more centred feel and made the construction about 5% lighter.

Turn radius is 16.8 m at 168 cm and 17.8 m at 175 cm, at roughly 1,535–1,585 g per ski. SST slanted sidewalls and a sintered base finish the build, made in Slovenia. Sold flat, without bindings.

Good for

  • Powder days and soft, chopped-up snow off the groomers
  • Steeper technical terrain where a light, quick ski helps
  • A one-ski quiver for resort laps when the fresh snow runs out

Does the Elan Ripstick 102 need a specific binding? No, it takes a standard alpine binding; Elan recommends a 110 mm brake width.

Questions

Posées en magasin, réponses de nos ajusteurs

What length should I get?

Our Find my length tool starts from your height: advanced skiers about 3 cm under their height and experts about 2 cm over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: an advanced skier 170 cm tall gets about 167 cm, so the 168. We carry 168 and 175 cm.

Is this ski right for my level?

It's for advanced and expert skiers. Elan aims the Ripstick line at advanced and expert skiers, and its skill chart for the 102 starts at advanced.

Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?

Soft snow first, the whole mountain second. Elan calls it the one-ski quiver for freeride, from powder days to resort laps, with stability on groomers when the powder runs low. At 100–101 mm (our 168 and 175 cm) it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.

Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?

It's a powder-first ski with no metal layer, so it isn't an ice carver. Elan's Amphibio profile keeps camber along each ski's inside edge for grip, and carbon rods plus UD carbon edge bands add torsional stiffness.

Does it come with bindings?

No, it's sold flat (ski only), so you choose the binding. Pick one whose brake is at least as wide as the 101 mm waist. Elan recommends a 110 mm brake for it.

Will my boots fit? What does GW mean?

That depends on the binding you add. For GripWalk boots, choose a binding marked GW (GripWalk-compatible); standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding.

What's its turn radius?

The turn radius is 16.8 m at 168 cm and 17.8 m at 175 cm.

Is it a men's ski?

Elan lists the Ripstick 102 with its men's skis. Anyone can ski it if one of our lengths (168 or 175 cm) fits.

Is it stiff or soft?

Soft. Elan doesn't publish a flex rating; this is from independent reviews and ratings.

Can you mount bindings on them? Do I need my boots?

Yes, when you buy bindings with them: mounting is then free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.

Does it have rocker or camber?

It uses Elan's Amphibio profile: camber along the inside edge for grip and rocker on the outside edge for easy turning, so the left and right skis are different.

What warranty does it have?

Elan gives a 2-year warranty on this ski. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
