Common questions
Borderline fittersOur Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height and advanced skiers about 3 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: a beginner skier 160 cm tall gets about 145 cm, so the 147. We carry 147 and 153 cm.
Atomic rates it for beginner to advanced skiers, not experts, and calls it smooth and intuitive.
All-mountain. Atomic calls it a mid-width all-mountain ski for every run at the resort, with an HRZN 3D tip for better float in softer snow. At 86 mm it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Atomic says its Carbon Backbone, a light carbon insert along the ski, gives exceptional edge hold, and the Dura Cap sidewall adds edge grip. With an early-rise tip and 86 mm waist, it's made for all-mountain skiing rather than hard-ice racing.
About
Maven 86 C
Maven is the women's side of Atomic's Maverick all-mountain family, and the 86 C was approved by Atomic's women's ambassador team. 86 mm underfoot is a mid-width: easy on groomers, with the width for softer snow along the sides of the run.
A poplar Light Woodcore keeps the weight down for quicker turn starts, a Carbon Backbone adds edge hold without adding weight, and early-rise All Mountain Rocker with an HRZN 3D tip helps it float in softer snow. Atomic rates it from beginner to advanced.
Key features
- Light Woodcore (poplar) — light, for quicker turn starts and more control
- Carbon Backbone — very light carbon along the ski for edge hold without extra weight
- All Mountain Rocker + HRZN 3D tip — early rise for any terrain; more tip surface for float in soft snow
- Dura Cap Sidewall — a sidewall that runs from base to topsheet for edge grip, with a rounded shape for durability

Questions
Asked in store, answered by our fitters
What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height and advanced skiers about 3 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: a beginner skier 160 cm tall gets about 145 cm, so the 147. We carry 147 and 153 cm.
Is this ski right for my level?
Atomic rates it for beginner to advanced skiers, not experts, and calls it smooth and intuitive.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
All-mountain. Atomic calls it a mid-width all-mountain ski for every run at the resort, with an HRZN 3D tip for better float in softer snow. At 86 mm it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
Atomic says its Carbon Backbone, a light carbon insert along the ski, gives exceptional edge hold, and the Dura Cap sidewall adds edge grip. With an early-rise tip and 86 mm waist, it's made for all-mountain skiing rather than hard-ice racing.
Does it come with bindings?
No, it's sold flat (ski only), so you choose the binding. Pick one whose brake is at least as wide as the 86.5 mm waist.
When will it ship?
This is a pre-order item; it is expected to ship around November 1, 2026. Your card is charged when you place the order.
Will my boots fit? What does GW mean?
That depends on the binding you add. For GripWalk boots, choose a binding marked GW (GripWalk-compatible); standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding.
What's its turn radius?
The turn radius is 14 m at 147 cm and 14.5 m at 153 cm.
Is it a women's ski?
Yes, Maven is Atomic's women's all-mountain line, and Atomic says the Maven 86 C is approved by its women's ambassador team. Anyone can ski it if the length fits: we carry 147 and 153 cm.
Can you mount bindings on them? Do I need my boots?
Yes, when you buy bindings with them: mounting is then free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
Does it have rocker or camber?
Atomic's All Mountain Rocker (15/75/10): an early-rise tip and tail with camber underfoot, for on and off piste. Its Directional Shape keeps tail rocker minimal for more edge contact and grip.
What warranty does it have?
Atomic gives a 2-year warranty on this ski. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
