About

Ripstick 84

Elan Ripstick 84 men's all-mountain ski, the narrowest model of the 26/27 Ripstick collection. Sold flat, without bindings.

Built to excel at the resort with great feel on groomers and the versatility to explore new terrain.

From crisp morning corduroy to late-day slush and everything in between, the Ripstick 84 is built to handle it all—every day of the season. As the narrowest in the Ripstick series, this 84mm platform delivers precision on groomers and the versatility to kick it up a notch when you venture beyond them. Designed for advanced skiers, it offers a quick, responsive feel with dependable edge grip. The Dual Woodcore generates powerful rebound and a lively rhythm through every turn, while Carbon Rods reduce vibration for a smooth ride that stays light underfoot. The Ripstick 84 is everything you need and nothing you don't.

Questions

Asked in store, answered by our fitters

What length should I get?

Our Find my length tool starts from your height: intermediates about 8 cm under their height and experts about 2 cm over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: an intermediate skier 170 cm tall gets about 162 cm, so the 161. We carry 161, 168 and 175 cm.

Is this ski right for my level?

It's aimed at advanced skiers, but intermediates can ski it too: Elan says it's designed for advanced skiers, and its skill chart runs from intermediate into expert.

Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?

The resort, groomers first. Elan built it to excel on groomers with the versatility to explore new terrain, from morning corduroy to late-day slush. At 82–84 mm (our 161–175 cm) it's a little wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs, but it's the narrowest Ripstick.

Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?

Elan promises precision and dependable edge grip on groomers. It's built with a Dual Woodcore and carbon rods for a lively, smooth ride, SST sidewalls for direct power to the edge, and no metal layer.

Does it come with bindings?

No, it's sold flat (ski only), so you choose the binding. Pick one whose brake is at least as wide as the 84 mm waist. Elan recommends an 85 mm brake for it.

Will my boots fit? What does GW mean?

That depends on the binding you add. For GripWalk boots, choose a binding marked GW (GripWalk-compatible); standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding.

What's its turn radius?

The turn radius is 13.4 m at 161 cm, 14.4 m at 168 cm and 15.4 m at 175 cm.

Is it a men's ski?

Elan lists the Ripstick 84 with its men's skis; the Ripstick 84 W is the women's version, with the same shape and radius in the lengths both come in and the mounting point a centimetre further forward. Anyone can ski it if one of our lengths (161–175 cm) fits.

Is it stiff or soft?

Soft. Elan doesn't publish a flex rating; this is from independent reviews and ratings.

Can you mount bindings on them? Do I need my boots?

Yes, when you buy bindings with them: mounting is then free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.

Does it have rocker or camber?

It has Elan's Early Rise Rocker: a gently raised tip that Elan says makes turns smooth and effortless.

What warranty does it have?

Elan gives a 2-year warranty on this ski. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
