About

Elan Ripstick 88 Skis (Flat) - Men's (25-26)

The Elan Ripstick 88 (2025/26 edition) is a men's freeride / all-mountain ski, sold flat (without bindings). It is the narrowest men's ski in Elan's 2025/26 Ripstick line, which Elan aims at advanced and expert skiers who want an all-mountain ski; Elan's tagline for it is 'Always Trusted'.

It pairs Elan's Amphibio profile, with camber on each ski's inside edge for grip and rocker on its outside edge for easy turning, with CarbonDeck Technology: carbon rods, UD carbon and flax fibre on a lightweight Tubelite woodcore, over a sintered base.

Key features

  • Amphibio profile — dedicated left and right skis: camber along the inside edge for grip and stability, rocker on the outside edge for easy turning and smooth transitions
  • CarbonDeck Technology — carbon rods, UD carbon and flax on a Tubelite woodcore, for a stable platform and a lively ride
  • Flax fibre — natural vibration control
  • UD carbon — carbon bands along the edges for torsional stability and quick response at a light weight

Questions

Asked in store, answered by our fitters

What length should I get?

Our Find my length tool starts from your height: advanced skiers about 3 cm under their height and experts about 2 cm over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: an advanced skier 170 cm tall gets about 167 cm, so the 168. We carry 161, 168 and 175 cm.

Is this ski right for my level?

It's for advanced and expert skiers: that's who Elan aims its 2025/26 Ripstick line at.

Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?

All over the resort. Elan says it handles groomed slopes with control and floats when the snow stacks up, in any condition. At 87–88 mm (our 161–175 cm) it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.

Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?

Elan says it grips well and handles precisely on groomed snow. Its Amphibio profile keeps camber along each ski's inside edge, carbon rods and UD carbon edge bands add stiffness, and there's no metal layer.

Does it come with bindings?

No, it's sold flat (ski only), so you choose the binding. Pick one whose brake is at least as wide as the 88 mm waist.

Will my boots fit? What does GW mean?

That depends on the binding you add. For GripWalk boots, choose a binding marked GW (GripWalk-compatible); standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding.

What's its turn radius?

The turn radius is 13.8 m at 161 cm, 14.8 m at 168 cm and 15.8 m at 175 cm.

Is it a men's ski?

Elan lists this Ripstick 88 with its men's skis; the women's version is the Ripstick 88 W. Anyone can ski it if one of our lengths (161–175 cm) fits.

Can you mount bindings on them? Do I need my boots?

Yes, when you buy bindings with them: mounting is then free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.

Does it have rocker or camber?

It uses Elan's Amphibio profile: camber along the inside edge for grip and rocker on the outside edge for easy turning, so the left and right skis are different.

Is this the current model?

It's the earlier Ripstick 88 (2025/26). Elan's 26/27 Ripstick 88 has a new product code but lists the same shape and turn radius for the 161, 168 and 175 cm lengths.

What warranty does it have?

Elan gives a 2-year warranty on this ski. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
