Questions

Asked in store, answered by our fitters

What length should I get?

Our Find my length tool starts from your height: intermediates about 8 cm under their height and experts about 2 cm over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: an intermediate skier 170 cm tall gets about 162 cm, so the 164. We carry 164, 172, 178 and 183 cm.

Is this ski right for my level?

Faction rates the Agent 3 for intermediate, advanced and expert skiers who want a wider touring ski that is still light, and that charges hard in variable snow.

Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?

Freeride and touring, with all-mountain days too. Faction rates it 8/10 for freeride / powder, 7/10 for all-mountain / carving and 3/10 for park; the rocker floats in powder and it's forgiving on the way up. At 106 mm it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.

Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?

Faction gives it traditional camber underfoot for edge hold, XL 2.5 mm edges, full-strength sidewalls and a full carbon weave around a light Karuba wood core. Its 106 mm waist and rocker are aimed at powder and variable snow: Faction rates it 8/10 there and 7/10 for carving.

Does it come with bindings?

No, it's sold flat (ski only), so you choose the binding. Pick one whose brake is at least as wide as the 106 mm waist.

Will my boots fit? What does GW mean?

That depends on the binding you add. For GripWalk boots, choose a binding marked GW (GripWalk-compatible); standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding.

What's its turn radius?

The turn radius grows with length: 16 m at 164 cm, 18 m at 172, 19 m at 178 and 21 m at 183 cm. Its elliptical sidecut makes turns easy to start.

Is it stiff or soft?

Faction rates the flex 7 out of 10. Its Mustache Flex is stable underfoot for edge hold and smoother in the tips and tails to soak up bumps.

Can you mount bindings on them? Do I need my boots?

Yes, when you buy bindings with them: mounting is then free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.

Does it have rocker or camber?

Tip and tail rocker with traditional camber underfoot (about 4 mm, per Faction's spec sheet), for edge hold, easy turn starts and float in soft snow, with a flat tail for stability and drive. It has a sintered base.

Where should the bindings go? Can I put touring bindings on it?

Faction says the Agent skis work with a pin touring binding, a hybrid or a full alpine binding. It gives a Progressive mount point for this ski, with a 4.1 x 9 mm drill size.

What warranty does it have?

Faction gives a two-year warranty on this ski. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
