Common questions
Borderline fittersOur Find my length tool starts from your height: advanced skiers about 3 cm under their height and experts about 2 cm over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 3 more if you mostly carve. Example: an advanced skier 170 cm tall who mostly carves gets about 164 cm, so the 166. We carry 152, 158, 166, 172 and 178 cm.
Faction rates the Dancer 79 Ti for advanced and expert skiers: its Ti series is built for skiers who want speed and stability with no compromise. For an easier, lighter feel Faction makes the Dancer 79 SYS without metal.
Groomed runs. Faction built it for smooth, high-speed carving on piste, for skiers who are on the piste 100% of the time; its ratings are all-mountain / carving 9/10, freeride / powder 3/10 and park 2/10. Its 79 mm waist is in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
That's what it's built for. Two thin sheets of Titanal (Faction's Dual Span Titanal) add torsional strength, damping and edge grip on even the firmest snow, with traditional camber underfoot and XL 2.5 mm edges.
About
Dancer 79 Ti SYS
The Faction Dancer 79 Ti SYS is the on-piste carver in Faction's Titanal Dancer series, sold as a system with Salomon Strive 11 GW bindings and extra tip protection. Faction's website rates it for advanced and expert skiers; its 26/27 spec sheet also lists intermediate.
Built for smooth, fast carving on groomed runs, it pairs minimal rocker with two thin sheets of Titanal for a powerful but playful ride and strong grip on firm snow. The Dancer 79 SYS shares its 118 / 79 / 107 mm shape without metal, for a lighter ski that takes less effort.

Questions
Asked in store, answered by our fitters
What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: advanced skiers about 3 cm under their height and experts about 2 cm over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 3 more if you mostly carve. Example: an advanced skier 170 cm tall who mostly carves gets about 164 cm, so the 166. We carry 152, 158, 166, 172 and 178 cm.
Is this ski right for my level?
Faction rates the Dancer 79 Ti for advanced and expert skiers: its Ti series is built for skiers who want speed and stability with no compromise. For an easier, lighter feel Faction makes the Dancer 79 SYS without metal.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
Groomed runs. Faction built it for smooth, high-speed carving on piste, for skiers who are on the piste 100% of the time; its ratings are all-mountain / carving 9/10, freeride / powder 3/10 and park 2/10. Its 79 mm waist is in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
That's what it's built for. Two thin sheets of Titanal (Faction's Dual Span Titanal) add torsional strength, damping and edge grip on even the firmest snow, with traditional camber underfoot and XL 2.5 mm edges.
Does it come with bindings?
Yes. SYS means Faction sells it as a system: Salomon Strive 11 GW bindings come with it in a separate box, plus extra tip protection. They aren't mounted at the factory; we mount them in store.
Will my boots fit the bindings? What does GW mean?
The set's binding is the Salomon Strive 11 GW, and GW means GripWalk. Salomon says its GripWalk bindings adjust automatically to both alpine and GripWalk boots, so you get walking comfort without giving up power transmission or precise release. We don't have a DIN range for this binding from Faction or Salomon, so we don't quote one here; ask us if you need a particular release setting. We set the bindings to your boots in store, so bring them along.
What's its turn radius?
The turn radius changes a lot with length: 12 m at 152 cm, 13 m at 158, 14 m at 166, 16 m at 172 and 17 m at 178 cm.
What do 79, Ti and SYS mean?
79 is the waist width in mm (118/79/107). Ti means two thin sheets of Titanal (metal) in the ski for grip and stability on firm snow. SYS means it's sold as a system with bindings, here the Salomon Strive 11 GW.
Is it stiff or soft?
Faction rates the flex 8 out of 10. Its Mustache Flex is stable in front of and behind the binding for edge hold, with a smoother, progressive flex in the tips and tails to soak up bumps.
Do you mount the bindings? Do I need to bring my boots?
Yes, free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa: the bindings arrive in their own box, not mounted at the factory. We set them to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted, with the bindings boxed.
Does it have rocker or camber?
Tip and tail rocker with traditional camber underfoot (about 4 mm, per Faction's spec sheet). Faction keeps the rocker minimal, for edge hold, easy turn starts and tail release.
What warranty does it have?
Faction gives a two-year warranty on this ski. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
