Common questions
Borderline fittersOur Find my length tool starts from your height: intermediates about 8 cm under their height and advanced skiers about 3 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: an intermediate skier 170 cm tall gets about 162 cm, so the 160. We carry 153, 160 and 167 cm.
Fischer rates it Beginner to Advanced (5–8 on its 10-step catalogue scale) and calls it the light and versatile Ranger.
All-mountain, leaning off-piste. Fischer puts it in its freeride / all-mountain range ('more off-piste'), and it handles hard-packed trails and powder. At 84 mm it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Our Fischer description says it gives reliable edge grip on hard-packed trails, with Ti (metal) reinforcement that balances power with easy control.
About
Ranger 84
The Fischer Ranger 84 is the narrowest adult ski in Fischer's Ranger freeride line, an all-mountain ski that Fischer places "more off-piste". Fischer rates it Beginner to Advanced. It is sold flat, without a binding.
Fischer calls it an all-mountain specialist that carves hard snow and eats up powder, and the light, versatile Ranger: highly stable and secure, with excellent on-piste performance and progressive edge grip.

Questions
Asked in store, answered by our fitters
What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: intermediates about 8 cm under their height and advanced skiers about 3 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: an intermediate skier 170 cm tall gets about 162 cm, so the 160. We carry 153, 160 and 167 cm.
Is this ski right for my level?
Fischer rates it Beginner to Advanced (5–8 on its 10-step catalogue scale) and calls it the light and versatile Ranger.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
All-mountain, leaning off-piste. Fischer puts it in its freeride / all-mountain range ('more off-piste'), and it handles hard-packed trails and powder. At 84 mm it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
Our Fischer description says it gives reliable edge grip on hard-packed trails, with Ti (metal) reinforcement that balances power with easy control.
Does it come with bindings?
No, it's sold flat (ski only), so you choose the binding. Pick one whose brake is at least as wide as the 84 mm waist. Fischer recommends its Attack LYT 11 GW (DIN up to 11) for it.
Will my boots fit? What does GW mean?
That depends on the binding you add. For GripWalk boots, choose a binding marked GW (GripWalk-compatible); standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding.
What's its turn radius?
The turn radius is 12 m at 153 cm, 13 m at 160 cm and 14 m at 167 cm.
Is it a men's or women's ski?
It's a unisex ski. Fischer makes one Ranger 84, and a women's ski is only a length difference. This listing groups the shorter lengths (153, 160 and 167 cm) to make them easier to find.
Is it stiff or soft?
Medium. Fischer doesn't publish a flex rating; this is from independent reviews and ratings. Our Fischer description says the wood core and metal reinforcement keep you secure without the skis being too rigid.
Can you mount bindings on them? Do I need my boots?
Yes, when you buy bindings with them: mounting is then free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
Does it have rocker or camber?
It has Fischer's Freeski Rocker. Rocker shortens the contact length, so turns start with less effort and it moves smoothly between snow types.
What warranty does it have?
It's covered by Borderline Outdoor's 1-year warranty. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
