Common questions
Borderline fittersOur Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height, intermediates 8 under, advanced skiers 3 under and experts 2 over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 3 more if you mostly carve. Example: an intermediate skier 160 cm tall who mostly carves gets about 149 cm, so the 150. We carry 144, 150, 156 and 162 cm.
Kästle gives no formal level. It says the Quartz 72 gives any skier maximum confidence, and made it for skiers who value self-assured, effortless carving above everything else.
Groomed runs. Kästle calls it a piste-oriented ski, and its 72 mm waist is in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Kästle says its Symbio Core keeps it lightweight yet stable and capable of powerful turns. The build is a poplar wood core with Titanal (metal) and a synthetic absorber, a full sidewall and standard camber.

Questions
Asked in store, answered by our fitters
What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height, intermediates 8 under, advanced skiers 3 under and experts 2 over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 3 more if you mostly carve. Example: an intermediate skier 160 cm tall who mostly carves gets about 149 cm, so the 150. We carry 144, 150, 156 and 162 cm.
Is this ski right for my level?
Kästle gives no formal level. It says the Quartz 72 gives any skier maximum confidence, and made it for skiers who value self-assured, effortless carving above everything else.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
Groomed runs. Kästle calls it a piste-oriented ski, and its 72 mm waist is in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
Kästle says its Symbio Core keeps it lightweight yet stable and capable of powerful turns. The build is a poplar wood core with Titanal (metal) and a synthetic absorber, a full sidewall and standard camber.
Does it come with bindings?
Yes, it comes with bindings. Kästle sells the Quartz 72 as a set with its K10 SLR GW, which Kästle calls the lightest binding in its line-up; it adjusts to boot size without tools.
When will it ship?
This is a pre-order item; it is expected to ship in November 2026. Your card is charged when you place the order.
Will my boots fit the bindings? What does GW mean?
Kästle says the K10 SLR GW is compatible with GripWalk boots, and standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding. GW means GripWalk: a rockered, rubber-treaded sole that makes walking easier.
What's its turn radius?
Kästle gives an 11.4 m turn radius at 144 cm; longer lengths have a bigger radius.
Is it a women's ski?
Yes. Kästle makes the Quartz 72 for its TERRA women's line, named after the elements of the earth. Anyone can ski it if the length fits: we carry 144, 150, 156 and 162 cm.
Do you mount the bindings? Do I need to bring my boots?
Yes, free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
Is this the current model?
Yes. This is the current Quartz 72 design, unchanged since 2022/23.
What warranty does it have?
It's covered by Borderline Outdoor's 1-year warranty. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
