Common questions
Borderline fittersOur Find my length tool starts from your height: intermediates about 8 cm under their height and advanced skiers about 3 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: an intermediate skier 170 cm tall gets about 162 cm, so the 161. We carry 161, 169 and 177 cm.
It's for intermediate and advanced skiers, per Salomon.
All-mountain, mostly on-piste: Salomon says ski everywhere on the mountain. At 84 mm it's a bit wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs, but our listing notes it still carves a groomer while floating enough to follow friends off the side.
Salomon says its Titanal frame helps in crud and on icy slopes: a single Ti layer on top of the core for edge grip, plus full sandwich sidewalls.
About
E Stance 84 R + MI12 GW
84 mm underfoot is the width that still carves a groomer honestly while giving you enough float to follow your friends off the side of it. The Stance line is built stiff enough to be trusted at speed, which is the difference between an all-mountain ski and a soft do-anything ski that does nothing especially well.
If most of your day is on-piste in Ontario or Quebec conditions with occasional soft snow, this is the width to be on. MI12 GW binding mounted.
GripWalk soles are standard on these — the rockered, rubberised sole that makes walking from the car to the lift a normal activity rather than a hazard. Check that your bindings are GripWalk-compatible before switching over.

Questions
Asked in store, answered by our fitters
What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: intermediates about 8 cm under their height and advanced skiers about 3 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: an intermediate skier 170 cm tall gets about 162 cm, so the 161. We carry 161, 169 and 177 cm.
Is this ski right for my level?
It's for intermediate and advanced skiers, per Salomon.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
All-mountain, mostly on-piste: Salomon says ski everywhere on the mountain. At 84 mm it's a bit wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs, but our listing notes it still carves a groomer while floating enough to follow friends off the side.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
Salomon says its Titanal frame helps in crud and on icy slopes: a single Ti layer on top of the core for edge grip, plus full sandwich sidewalls.
Does it come with bindings?
Yes. It comes as a set with the Salomon MI12 GW system binding (DIN 4–12), which adjusts to your boot length without tools.
Will my boots fit the bindings? What does GW mean?
The MI12 GW takes standard adult alpine and GripWalk boot soles. GW means GripWalk: a rockered, rubber-treaded sole that makes walking easier.
What's its turn radius?
The turn radius is 13 m at 161 cm, 15 m at 169 cm and 16 m at 177 cm.
Can a woman ski this?
Yes. Salomon makes it unisex, so length decides: we carry 161, 169 and 177 cm.
Is it stiff or soft?
Firm enough for speed: our listing says the Stance line is built stiff enough to be trusted at speed.
Do you mount the bindings? Do I need to bring my boots?
Yes, free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
Does it have rocker or camber?
Salomon's All-Mountain Profile: rocker in the tip (15%) and tail (12%) with camber underfoot.
What warranty does it have?
It's covered by Borderline Outdoor's 1-year warranty. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
