Common questions
Borderline fittersOur Find my length tool starts from your height: intermediates about 8 cm under their height; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: an intermediate skier 170 cm tall gets about 162 cm, so the 164. We carry 156, 164 and 172 cm.
It's for intermediate skiers, per Salomon: a versatile ski for skiers who want grip on piste and float when they need it.
Between all-mountain and freeride: Salomon says the wide tip and 94 mm waist bridge the two, with grip and stability on piste and extra float in softer snow. At 94 mm it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Salomon says it offers excellent grip and stability on piste. Its full sandwich sidewalls give good edge grip, with a full poplar wood core and a Ti (titanal) reinforcement under the binding.
About
QST 94
94 mm is the QST most people should be on. Wide enough to float when the snow is soft, narrow enough that a full day on groomers is not a chore, and stiff enough underfoot to hold an edge when the hill turns to hardpack in the afternoon.
Flat ski — bindings are separate, which lets you choose the brake width and DIN range that suits you rather than accepting a system.

Questions
Asked in store, answered by our fitters
What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: intermediates about 8 cm under their height; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: an intermediate skier 170 cm tall gets about 162 cm, so the 164. We carry 156, 164 and 172 cm.
Is this ski right for my level?
It's for intermediate skiers, per Salomon: a versatile ski for skiers who want grip on piste and float when they need it.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
Between all-mountain and freeride: Salomon says the wide tip and 94 mm waist bridge the two, with grip and stability on piste and extra float in softer snow. At 94 mm it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
Salomon says it offers excellent grip and stability on piste. Its full sandwich sidewalls give good edge grip, with a full poplar wood core and a Ti (titanal) reinforcement under the binding.
Does it come with bindings?
No, it's sold flat (ski only), so you choose the binding. Pick one whose brake is at least as wide as the 94 mm waist. Salomon recommends its S/Lab Shift 10 MN, Strive 14 GW, Strive 14 MN, Strive 12 GW and Stage GW 11 for it.
Will my boots fit? What does GW mean?
That depends on the binding you add. For GripWalk boots, choose a binding marked GW (GripWalk-compatible); standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding.
What's its turn radius?
The turn radius is 13.5 m at 156 cm, 14.5 m at 164 cm and 15.5 m at 172 cm.
What do QST and 94 mean?
QST is Salomon's freeride line and 94 is the waist width in mm (131/94/117 at 156 cm). Black is the colourway; Salomon also makes a Lilac with the same specs.
Can you mount bindings on them? Do I need my boots?
Yes, when you buy bindings with them: mounting is then free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
Does it have rocker or camber?
Salomon's Freeride Profile: rocker in the tip (20%) and a subtle tail rocker (16%), with camber underfoot. Salomon says the shorter contact length speeds up edge-to-edge transitions.
What warranty does it have?
It's covered by Borderline Outdoor's 1-year warranty. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
