About

QST 94

The QST 94 is a 94 mm-waist ski from Salomon's QST freeride line, made to bridge all-mountain and freeride. Salomon rates it for intermediate skiers who want grip and stability on piste, with a wide tip for extra float in softer snow.

A freeride-inspired tip and piste-inspired tail keep it versatile, and shorter on-snow contact with a subtle tail rocker speeds up edge-to-edge transitions. A full poplar core with full sandwich sidewalls gives stability and edge grip.

Key features

  • Freeride Profile — a lively rocker profile for a snappy ride, an energetic tail and a playful tip
  • Full sandwich sidewalls — stability and precision, with good edge grip and smooth snow contact
  • Full poplar woodcore — liveliness, stability and snow contact while filtering vibration

Questions

Asked in store, answered by our fitters

What length should I get?

Our Find my length tool starts from your height: intermediates about 8 cm under their height; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: an intermediate skier 160 cm tall gets about 152 cm. This listing comes in 156 cm only.

Is this ski right for my level?

It's for intermediate skiers, per Salomon: a versatile ski for skiers who want grip on piste and float when they need it.

Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?

Between all-mountain and freeride: Salomon says the wide tip and 94 mm waist bridge the two, with grip and stability on piste and extra float in softer snow. At 94 mm it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.

Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?

Salomon says it offers excellent grip and stability on piste. Its full sandwich sidewalls give good edge grip, with a full poplar wood core and a Ti (titanal) reinforcement under the binding.

Does it come with bindings?

No, it's sold flat (ski only), so you choose the binding. Pick one whose brake is at least as wide as the 94 mm waist. Salomon recommends its S/Lab Shift 10 MN, Strive 14 GW, Strive 14 MN, Strive 12 GW and Stage GW 11 for it.

Will my boots fit? What does GW mean?

That depends on the binding you add. For GripWalk boots, choose a binding marked GW (GripWalk-compatible); standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding.

What's its turn radius?

The turn radius is 13.5 m at 156 cm, the length we carry in Lilac; Salomon's QST 94 runs 14.5 m at 164 cm and 15.5 m at 172 cm.

What do QST and 94 mean?

QST is Salomon's freeride line and 94 is the waist width in mm (131/94/117 at 156 cm). Lilac is the colourway; Salomon gives the Lilac and the Black the same specs.

Is the Lilac a women's ski?

No. Salomon makes the QST 94 unisex: Lilac is just the colour, with the same specs as the Black. Length decides, and we carry it in 156 cm.

Can you mount bindings on them? Do I need my boots?

Yes, when you buy bindings with them: mounting is then free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.

Does it have rocker or camber?

Salomon's Freeride Profile: rocker in the tip (20%) and a subtle tail rocker (16%), with camber underfoot. Salomon says the shorter contact length speeds up edge-to-edge transitions.

What warranty does it have?

It's covered by Borderline Outdoor's 1-year warranty. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
