FAQ
Wind and snow. The crossing poles brace each other, so the tent stays rigid when a tunnel or cabin tent would flap. It is the shape for exposed sites, shoulder-season storms and winter base camps.
It is rated four-season: 70D silicone-coated nylon fly at 2,000 mm, a 4,000 mm detachable floor and a pole structure built for snow load. Add the vestibule for a dry place to cook and store gear.
380 × 330 cm floor, 185 cm peak: four adults with gear comfortably, six if you sleep in a row.
The vestibule adds a covered entrance for boots, packs and a stove. The ceiling is the inner roof liner. Both are sold separately, so you buy the vestibule when you start winter camping, not before.
Tunnel and cabin tents give you more standing room per kilo; the Commander gives you the structure that stays up when the weather turns. It is freestanding, so you can pitch it on rock or a platform where you cannot drive pegs, then move it before staking. If you camp in October and beyond, that matters more than the extra headroom.
