Common questions
Borderline fittersOur Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height and intermediates about 8 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 3 more if you mostly carve. Example: a beginner skier 170 cm tall gets about 155 cm, so the 161. We carry 161, 169 and 177 cm.
It's for beginners and intermediates: Atomic pitches it at new-to-intermediate skiers.
Same idea, more inside as the number goes up: all three are the wider Redsters (75–80 mm) with a multi-radius sidecut for all-day piste skiing in changing snow. Q4: composite wood core and Atomic's TI Stabilizer; Atomic made it for beginners and intermediates. Q5: adds a full Titanal layer (TI Powered) for more damping and grip; Atomic calls it the step into performance piste skis. Q6: a full Power Woodcore, TI Powered, World Cup base finish, Atomic's Pro Trak plate and a slightly wider 78.5–80 mm waist; the strongest build of the three, for advanced skiers.
Groomed runs in every condition, from firm corduroy to afternoon slush, per Atomic. Its 76–77 mm waist is in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
About
Redster Q4 + M 10 GW
The easiest Redster we carry: Atomic built the Q4 for beginners and intermediates, with a 75–77 mm waist and a multi-radius sidecut that copes with snow that changes through the day: hard, fresh groomers in the morning, bumps and slush in the afternoon.
A composite wood core, Atomic's TI Stabilizer (a Titanal insert for steadiness at any speed) and Dura Cap sidewalls keep it predictable without asking for race-level effort. When you want more grip and damping, the Q5 adds a full Titanal layer, and the Q6 a full Power Woodcore and the Pro Trak plate.

Questions
Asked in store, answered by our fitters
What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height and intermediates about 8 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 3 more if you mostly carve. Example: a beginner skier 170 cm tall gets about 155 cm, so the 161. We carry 161, 169 and 177 cm.
Is this ski right for my level?
It's for beginners and intermediates: Atomic pitches it at new-to-intermediate skiers.
How do the Redster Q4, Q5 and Q6 differ?
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
Groomed runs in every condition, from firm corduroy to afternoon slush, per Atomic. Its 76–77 mm waist is in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
Yes, for its level. Atomic's Active Camber (full camber) gives more effective edge contact and grip on ice, and a Titanal layer (TI Stabilizer) adds stability.
Does it come with bindings?
Yes. It comes with the Atomic M 10 GW binding (max DIN 10) on Atomic's Leisure Trak binding rail.
Will my boots fit the bindings? What does GW mean?
The M 10 GW takes standard adult alpine and GripWalk boot soles. GW means GripWalk: a rockered, rubber-treaded sole that makes walking easier.
What's its turn radius? What does Q mean?
The turn radius runs from 14.3 m at 161 cm to 16 m at 177 cm. Q is Atomic's all-conditions piste line.
What do Redster and Q4 mean?
Redster is Atomic's piste and race family. Atomic uses S for slalom (tight turns), G for giant slalom (wide turns), X for a multi-radius sidecut and Q for its one-ski-for-all-conditions piste line. M 10 GW is the binding (GripWalk-compatible).
Is it stiff or soft?
Atomic doesn't publish a flex rating for the Q4. It's the Redster Q built for beginners and intermediates, with a composite wood core and Atomic's TI Stabilizer instead of the full Titanal layer (TI Powered) on the Q5 and Q6.
Do you mount the bindings? Do I need to bring my boots?
Yes, free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
Does it have rocker or camber?
Full camber: Atomic's Active Camber (0/100/0) for more edge contact and grip on hard snow.
