Common questions
Borderline fittersOur Find my length tool starts from your height: advanced skiers about 3 cm under their height and experts about 2 cm over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 5 more if you mostly ski the park. Example: an advanced skier 170 cm tall who mostly skis the park gets about 162 cm, so the 164. We carry 164 and 172 cm.
It's for advanced and expert skiers. Elan's skill chart for the Playmaker 101 starts at advanced and runs to the top of the scale.
Soft snow and the park. Elan says it's wide enough for deep snow yet light and nimble enough for park laps, and its terrain chart sits at the variable-to-powder end. At 101 mm it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
It's built for soft snow and the park rather than hard ice: no metal layer and a rockered profile for float. Elan's full 360° sidewall and carbon rods add edge grip and stability.

Questions
Asked in store, answered by our fitters
What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: advanced skiers about 3 cm under their height and experts about 2 cm over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 5 more if you mostly ski the park. Example: an advanced skier 170 cm tall who mostly skis the park gets about 162 cm, so the 164. We carry 164 and 172 cm.
Is this ski right for my level?
It's for advanced and expert skiers. Elan's skill chart for the Playmaker 101 starts at advanced and runs to the top of the scale.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
Soft snow and the park. Elan says it's wide enough for deep snow yet light and nimble enough for park laps, and its terrain chart sits at the variable-to-powder end. At 101 mm it's wider than the 66–80 mm we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
It's built for soft snow and the park rather than hard ice: no metal layer and a rockered profile for float. Elan's full 360° sidewall and carbon rods add edge grip and stability.
Does it come with bindings?
No, it's sold flat (ski only), so you choose the binding. Pick one whose brake is at least as wide as the 101 mm waist.
Will my boots fit? What does GW mean?
That depends on the binding you add. For GripWalk boots, choose a binding marked GW (GripWalk-compatible); standard alpine boots fit any alpine binding.
What does 101 mean?
101 is the waist width in mm: Elan builds the Playmaker 101 at 132/101/122 in every length. Playmaker is Elan's freeride twin-tip line, made to ski forwards or backwards.
Is it a men's or women's ski?
It's a unisex ski: Elan lists the Playmaker 101 with both its men's and women's skis. Pick by length; we carry 164 and 172 cm.
Can you mount bindings on them? Do I need my boots?
Yes, when you buy bindings with them: mounting is then free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
Does it have rocker or camber?
It has Elan's Surf Rocker, a rockered twin-tip profile that Elan says floats in either direction; thin Dual Float tips and tails cut weight and add float.
Is this the current model?
Yes. Elan carries the Playmaker 101 over into its 26/27 range unchanged, with the same model code and 132/101/122 mm shape.
What warranty does it have?
Elan gives a 2-year warranty on this ski. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
