Questions

Asked in store, answered by our fitters

What length should I get?

Our Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height and intermediates about 8 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter.

Is this ski right for my level?

Ask us and we'll check the ski for you: we're confirming which Elan Wildcat edition this is before we state a level.

Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?

Groomers and the rest of the resort. It's a narrower all-resort ski made to save your energy for all-day skiing. At under 80 mm underfoot it's in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.

Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?

It uses Elan's Amphibio design, with a cambered, reinforced inside edge on each ski for grip, plus carbon reinforcement and Elan's RST racing sidewall for edge hold. There's no metal layer.

Does it come with bindings?

Yes. It comes with an Elan binding on Elan's Shift X system; Elan pairs its carbon Wildcats on Shift X with the EL 9.0 GW (DIN 2.5–9).

Will my boots fit the bindings? What does GW mean?

The EL 9.0 GW takes standard alpine and GripWalk boot soles. GW means GripWalk: a rockered, rubber-treaded sole that makes walking easier.

What does C mean?

C means carbon: the ski is reinforced with carbon rather than a titanal (metal) layer, which keeps it light.

Is it a women's ski?

Yes. Elan designs the Wildcat line for women: it's tailored to female skiers and designed by women. The men's line is the Wingman. Anyone can ski it if the length fits.

Do you mount the bindings? Do I need to bring my boots?

Yes, free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.

Does it have rocker or camber?

It uses Elan's Amphibio profile: camber along the inside edge for grip and rocker on the outside edge for easy turning, so the left and right skis are different.

Is this the current model?

No, it's an earlier Wildcat: there's no 76 C in Elan's 26/27 Wildcat range, where the carbon models are now the 78 C and 80 C.

What warranty does it have?

Elan gives a 2-year warranty on this ski. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
