Common questions
Borderline fittersOur Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height, intermediates 8 under, advanced skiers 3 under and experts 2 over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 3 more if you mostly carve. Example: an intermediate skier 170 cm tall who mostly carves gets about 159 cm, so the 156. We carry 150 to 174 cm.
Kästle gives no formal level. It calls the RX9 its choice for piste skiers who want a more forgiving ski without giving up Kästle performance: lighter than the RX11 and RX12, so it's more nimble and easier to control.
Groomed runs. Kästle makes it for piste skiers, and its 72 mm waist is in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Kästle says its semi-cap sandwich sidewall gives outstanding edge grip and drives power straight to the edge, and its Symbio Core adds a Titanal (metal) reinforcement and a synthetic absorber to the wood core for stability and damping.
About
RX9 Premium + K12 TRI GW
The Kästle RX9 (2026/27) is a 72 mm-waist piste ski with a 115.5 / 72 / 98 mm sidecut for skiers who want precise, forgiving carving on groomers, available in 150, 156, 162, 168 and 174 cm.
Kästle's Symbio Core combines a poplar woodcore with a synthetic absorber and a Titanal inlay for stability and smooth damping, while the Armoclad semi-cap sandwich sidewall sends power straight to the edge. Hollowtech Race trims weight in the shovel, and the Fast Grip shovel with a Free Rise tail helps turns start quickly and release cleanly. The build is lighter than the RX11 and RX12, so the RX9 stays nimble and easy to control.
A metal tip protector adds durability. Turn radius is 12.6 m at 150 cm and 13.7 m at 156 cm, at about 1,210–1,260 g per ski. Sold as a set with the Kästle K12 TRI GW binding in mint.
Good for
- Carving groomed runs
- Intermediate skiers who want premium edge grip without a race-ski feel
- Firm, early-morning corduroy at Eastern Canada resorts
Is the Kästle RX9 good for beginners? It suits confident beginners and intermediates: Kästle places it in the comfort-to-sport range of its piste line, below the race-oriented RX11 and RX12.

Questions
Asked in store, answered by our fitters
What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height, intermediates 8 under, advanced skiers 3 under and experts 2 over; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 3 more if you mostly carve. Example: an intermediate skier 170 cm tall who mostly carves gets about 159 cm, so the 156. We carry 150 to 174 cm.
Is this ski right for my level?
Kästle gives no formal level. It calls the RX9 its choice for piste skiers who want a more forgiving ski without giving up Kästle performance: lighter than the RX11 and RX12, so it's more nimble and easier to control.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
Groomed runs. Kästle makes it for piste skiers, and its 72 mm waist is in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
Kästle says its semi-cap sandwich sidewall gives outstanding edge grip and drives power straight to the edge, and its Symbio Core adds a Titanal (metal) reinforcement and a synthetic absorber to the wood core for stability and damping.
Does it come with bindings?
Yes. It's sold as a set with Kästle's K12 TRI GW binding in mint, on Kästle's TRIFLEX plate; the binding adjusts to your boot size without tools.
When will it ship?
This is a pre-order item; it is expected to ship in November 2026. Your card is charged when you place the order.
Will my boots fit the bindings? What does GW mean?
Yes. Kästle says the K12 TRI GW is fully GripWalk-compatible: it takes both alpine and GripWalk ski boots with no adjustment to the sole.
What's its turn radius?
Kästle gives a 12.6 m turn radius at 150 cm and 13.7 m at 156 cm; the longer lengths have a bigger radius.
Do you mount the bindings? Do I need to bring my boots?
Yes, free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
Does it have rocker or camber?
Camber, with Kästle's Fast Grip shovel and Free Rise tail, which our listing says help turns start quickly and release cleanly.
How durable is it?
Kästle gave it a new, especially durable topsheet and a metal tip protector for long-lasting performance, even under intensive use.
What warranty does it have?
It's covered by Borderline Outdoor's 1-year warranty. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
