Common questions
Borderline fittersOur Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height and intermediates about 8 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: a beginner skier 160 cm tall gets about 145 cm, so the 146. We carry 140, 146, 152 and 160 cm.
It's for beginners and newer skiers. Elan made it for skiers just discovering skiing or stepping up to their first real pair, with a forgiving feel that helps you progress naturally.
Groomed runs, with room to explore. Elan calls it your first step to exploring the whole mountain. Its 74 mm waist is in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
It's built to be forgiving rather than an ice racer: a wood core with fibreglass under a cap construction, and no metal layer. Elan says it gives reliable, secure edge grip with control.

Questions
Asked in store, answered by our fitters
What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: beginners about 15 cm under their height and intermediates about 8 cm under; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter. Example: a beginner skier 160 cm tall gets about 145 cm, so the 146. We carry 140, 146, 152 and 160 cm.
Is this ski right for my level?
It's for beginners and newer skiers. Elan made it for skiers just discovering skiing or stepping up to their first real pair, with a forgiving feel that helps you progress naturally.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
Groomed runs, with room to explore. Elan calls it your first step to exploring the whole mountain. Its 74 mm waist is in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
It's built to be forgiving rather than an ice racer: a wood core with fibreglass under a cap construction, and no metal layer. Elan says it gives reliable, secure edge grip with control.
Does it come with bindings?
Yes. It's sold as a set with Elan's EL 9.0 GW binding in black (DIN 2.5–9, 78 mm brake) on Elan's Shift X system.
Will my boots fit the bindings? What does GW mean?
The EL 9.0 GW takes standard alpine and GripWalk boot soles. GW means GripWalk: a rockered, rubber-treaded sole that makes walking easier.
What's its turn radius?
The turn radius grows with length: 10.3 m at 140 cm, 11.3 m at 146, 12.4 m at 152 and 13.9 m at 160 cm.
Is it a women's ski?
Yes. Elan makes the Wildcat as its women's all-resort line; the men's line is the Wingman. Anyone can ski it if one of our lengths (140–160 cm) fits.
Is it stiff or soft?
Forgiving. Elan describes a forgiving feel and a supportive, low-effort ride, made to build confidence.
Do you mount the bindings? Do I need to bring my boots?
Yes, free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. We set the bindings to your boots, so bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
Does it have rocker or camber?
It has Elan's Early Rise Rocker: a gently raised tip that Elan says makes turns smooth and effortless.
What warranty does it have?
Elan gives a 2-year warranty on this ski. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
