Common questions
Borderline fittersOur Find my length tool starts from your height: experts about 2 cm over their height; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 3 more if you mostly carve. Example: an expert skier 170 cm tall who mostly carves gets about 169 cm, so the 170. We carry 150, 155, 160, 165 and 170 cm.
Only if you're an expert. Fischer rates it Expert and calls it a slalom specialist with World Cup technology.
Groomed runs only. Fischer lists it as an on-piste-only race ski. Its 66 mm waist is in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs, built for quick edge changes on hard snow, not powder.
Yes, hard groomers are what it's built for: a narrow 66 mm waist, Shaped Ti titanal (metal) layers that Fischer says add grip and stability, and a World Cup-level edge and base finish.

Questions
Asked in store, answered by our fitters
What length should I get?
Our Find my length tool starts from your height: experts about 2 cm over their height; plus 4 cm if you're heavier than most people your height, minus 4 if lighter; minus 3 more if you mostly carve. Example: an expert skier 170 cm tall who mostly carves gets about 169 cm, so the 170. We carry 150, 155, 160, 165 and 170 cm.
Is this ski right for my level?
Only if you're an expert. Fischer rates it Expert and calls it a slalom specialist with World Cup technology.
Is it for groomers, all-mountain or powder?
Groomed runs only. Fischer lists it as an on-piste-only race ski. Its 66 mm waist is in the 66–80 mm range we suggest for mostly groomed Ontario runs, built for quick edge changes on hard snow, not powder.
Will it hold an edge on icy Ontario groomers?
Yes, hard groomers are what it's built for: a narrow 66 mm waist, Shaped Ti titanal (metal) layers that Fischer says add grip and stability, and a World Cup-level edge and base finish.
Does it come with bindings?
Yes. It comes with the Fischer RC4 Z13 GW Freeflex binding (DIN 4–13, 85 mm brake). On this version the binding is screwed onto the ski, so we mount it in store.
Will my boots fit the bindings? What does GW mean?
The RC4 Z13 GW takes standard alpine (ISO 5355) and GripWalk (ISO 23223) boot soles. GW means GripWalk: a rockered, rubber-treaded sole that makes walking easier. Touring-sole boots aren't listed for it.
Is it a short-turn or long-turn ski? What does ST mean?
Short turns. ST marks Fischer's short-turn, slalom-style models (the long-turn versions are called LT). Fischer calls it ideal for short turns, with a 13 m turn radius at 165 cm (12 m at 150 and 155 cm).
What do RC4, Noize and ST mean?
RC4 is Fischer's race line and ST marks its short-turn models. Noize is Noize Control: metal pigments printed on parts of the topsheet that Fischer says make the ski run quieter and smoother. M-Plate is the race plate under the binding.
Is it stiff or soft?
Stiff. Our fitters rate it very stiff, as you'd expect from Fischer's RC4 race line.
Do you mount the bindings? Do I need to bring my boots?
Yes, free and the same day at Richmond Hill and Ottawa. The binding on this version is screwed on, so we mount it and set it to your boots: bring yours or buy boots with the skis; you check and sign off on the setup in store. Skis we ship go out unmounted.
Is this the current model?
This is the earlier version. Like Fischer's newer RC4 Noize ST Pro it comes with its binding, but the binding mounts differently: on this one it's screwed on, so we mount it in store.
What warranty does it have?
It's covered by Borderline Outdoor's 1-year warranty. If something goes wrong, contact us with your order details.
